At LifeWell Physio, Dr. Rohit Kumar visits the patient's home with portable equipment, carries out a detailed neurological physiotherapy assessment and builds a programme around what matters most to the patient and family: getting out of bed safely, walking to the bathroom, climbing stairs, going back to work, or simply reducing the fear of falling. Each plan is reviewed regularly because neurological recovery is rarely a straight line.
Neuro physiotherapy is not a replacement for your neurologist. Medicines, investigations and medical decisions remain with your doctor. Physiotherapy works alongside medical care to improve function, reduce secondary problems such as stiffness, contractures, weakness from disuse and pressure sores, and help the patient stay as independent as possible.
Recovery depends on the condition. Bell's palsy and Guillain-Barre syndrome often improve over weeks to months, and rehab helps the patient make the most of that natural recovery. Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis are long-term conditions, where the aim is to maintain mobility, slow functional decline and adapt the routine as needs change. In spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy, the focus is on maximising what the body can do, preventing complications and training for independence with the right aids. We explain these expectations honestly at the first visit so families can plan.
Home visits make particular sense in neurological rehab. Many patients have poor balance, fatigue quickly or cannot sit in a car for long. Older parents living on upper floors of multi-storey homes may find even reaching the ground floor difficult. Training at home also lets us practise on the actual bed, toilet, chair and stairs the patient uses, which makes the skills easier to carry over into daily life.
If the neurological problem followed a stroke, our dedicated stroke and paralysis rehabilitation at home programme covers hemiplegia, spasticity and walking retraining in more depth. For older adults with general weakness and frequent falls, see elderly care physiotherapy, and if surgery on the spine or brain has been done recently, our post-surgery rehabilitation service can help with the early recovery phase.
The first step is simple: send a WhatsApp message or call with the patient's age, diagnosis and locality, and we will arrange a suitable home visit time.
